ABOUT ME

My name is Sarah Latham, and I am passionate about all things good, right, true, and beautiful. I have found these things brilliantly displayed over the years through novels.

My own morality is rooted in my devout Catholic faith, and it has been further developed through reading novels. I could define virtues, but reading has helped me put these virtues into action. Watching my favorite characters heroically live their virtues in the easy times and the hard times has helped me truly know and deeply understand my own morality and virtues, and what they look like in day-to-day life.

This understanding of literature first dawned on me when I read this quote:

"The right thing and the easy thing are never the same."

Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl, Beautiful Creatures - 2012

My life changed the day I read that quote, though I did not know it at the time. This quote became imprinted on my soul, and I saw the true power of books. The words they hold on those tattered pages can change your life, your future, and your entire world if you let them. To borrow a quote from Cassandra Clare:

"One must always be careful of books… and what’s inside them, for words have the power to change us."

Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Angel - 2015

This blog sets out to explore the literature that has had the biggest impact on my life and how we can all learn valuable moral lessons from these stories, with a few new adventures added in along the way.
